Pastor’s Blog for January 2020

On December 2, while driving Wally to a post-surgical check-up
in Boston, the odometer on my trusty 2006 Honda CRV changed
from 199,999 to 200,000 miles. My faithful servant for most of
my years at OCC, that car has taken me around Springfield and
Western Mass, to my mom’s in Connecticut on Fridays, and much
more. It will also carry us to Chicago. That car is not finished, and
neither are any of us!

I’m sure that God will show me and Wally how to continue serving
the Kingdom in Jesus’ name. This goes for all of you precious
brothers and sisters at OCC too. We are high-mileage disciples!
How can we stay healthy and growing in Christ? Be constant.
Read the Word. Pray. Attend worship. Eat together. Do the work
of Jesus. Love the church. Love each other. Invite others to join
you. One of my life verses is Hebrews 10:24-25:

Let us consider how to stir one another up to love and good
works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some,
but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the
Day draw near.

See you in church! – until January 12. And remember,
“good-bye” is not forever, with God.
