June 27 Message From Rev. Tam

Greetings My Lovely OCC Family,

I hope this week finds you with a little sun on your face and some peace in your spirit.

On Sunday, we reflected on “The Danger of Depletion, The Gift of Renewal,” acknowledging how exhaustion can find us, even when we’re doing all the right things. Elijah, bold and faithful, ended up under a tree, worn out and asking God for help. God responded to Elijah’s exhaustion with gentleness, offering rest, nourishment, and renewal. This is the same way God responds to us.

As I reminded you on this week, I am reminding you again to take care of yourself, in mind, body, and spirit. Make space for rest. Make time for the things that give you life.
Allow yourself to slow down. Breathe deeply. Eat well. Take naps. Sit with people who make you laugh and feel loved. Let your soul be reminded that it matters too.

There’s always more to do ahead, but that doesn’t mean we have to do it all at once. “Remember that you can’t pour from an empty cup,” and still many of us try to. Rest is part of how we walk with God, which is why the angel said to Elijah, “Get up and eat, otherwise the journey will be too much for you.”

You are loved,
You are needed,
And you are allowed to rest.

With grace,
Rev. Tam
