Dear Orchard Family!!
What a strange season we find ourselves in! Nick and I (Karen) are getting so excited to begin as your pastors on June 1! We are worshipping with you on Sundays, listening to Pastor Fred’s messages and singing along to Ben’s recordings.
We are also brainstorming worship ideas for the summer, praying for you and your friends and neighbors, and talking about how we can have a strong start as your pastors in the midst of this pandemic.
Some of my best prayer times are pushing the stroller with Jacob (our 19 month old). Yesterday, while walking, I remembered something I have preached many times and I’m sure you’ll hear me preach again:
The Church doesn’t exist for just the good times or the easy times. We have been commissioned as Jesus’s hands and feet to BE THE CHURCH in our broken, hurting, and grieving world. We can do hard things well. And friends, THIS IS HARD. I like to say, “CHURCH, WE DO HARD WELL.” We may cry.
Some will weep. But we are still the church. We are the body of Christ. Sent on a mission of love. So, my friends, take heart, take courage. Remember that we can have peace in troubled times not only because our God promises to be with us, but also becauseChrist has overcome the world (John 16:33).
Remember that as Jesus’s children, we are “more than conquerors through him who loved us… [for nothing] can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:37-39). On June 7 we look forward to leading worship, however that may look. We are eager to start this new season with you all. Please continue to pray for our move
and all the details surrounding that. You are in our prayers as well!!
Please feel free to “friend” us on Facebook. I’ve been having fun posting some of our adventures with the kids during quarantine.
Grace and peace,
Pastor Karen (and Pastor Nick too)
